Acceptable use policy
Effective date: 14 October 2026
This policy is part of the Terms of Service. It applies to everyone who uses SunLicense, including your staff and anything your software does with your API keys.
You may not use SunLicense to
- license, distribute or control software you don't have the right to distribute, or that infringes someone else's intellectual property;
- support malware, ransomware, spyware, stalkerware, credential stealers, botnets or any software that harms the computers it runs on or deceives their users;
- collect personal data about your customers that you have no lawful basis to collect, or send special-category data (such as health or biometric data) to the Service;
- disable, lock or delete a user's data or system as a penalty, beyond stopping your own software from running;
- do anything illegal, including breaching sanctions or export-control laws, or fraud.
You may not
- probe, scan or test the security of the Service without our written permission (see Security for how to report issues responsibly);
- access another organization's data, or try to;
- overload the Service, get around rate limits or plan limits, or create multiple accounts to do so;
- send validation traffic that isn't from real copies of your software, except reasonable testing;
- resell, sublicense or offer the Service as part of a competing licensing service without our written agreement;
- reverse engineer the Service, except where the law allows it despite this restriction (this does not restrict your rights to the open-source SDKs under their MIT License);
- share your account or API keys outside your organization, or impersonate SunLicense or SunDevs.
Enforcement
If we believe this policy has been broken we may remove content, revoke API keys, limit or suspend the account, or close it, as set out in the Terms. Where reasonably possible we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. Accounts closed for breaching this policy are not refunded.
Reporting abuse
Report abuse, including software you believe is licensed through SunLicense in breach of this policy, to [email protected] with "Abuse" in the subject.
