Imports and tasks
Tasks (in the dashboard's sidebar) are things you ask SunLicense to do that take longer than a click: bringing your data over from another license system, importing from SunLicense V1, or closing your organization. You start one, follow its progress on its page, get an email when it's done, and download anything it produced.
Start a task
- Open Tasks → Start a task and choose what you need.
- Fill in the form and add your files. Each file is checked for its type and size before it's sent.
- Choose Submit. The task's page shows each step, what we've written to you, and the results.
Some tasks are done by a person at SunLicense: the page then says SunLicense is on it, and we email you when it's done or if we need something from you. You can cancel a task until it finishes.
Who can start one: anyone whose role has the Tasks permissions (Owner and Admin have them; see Team and roles). Imports also need Manage the organization, and only the Owner can close the organization.
Moving from another license system
Tasks → Start a task → Import from another license system (open it).
- Choose where you're moving from and tell us anything we should know: which products to bring over, what your plans or tiers mean, anything unusual in the export.
- Add up to 5 export files of up to 50 MB each:
.csv,.json,.sql,.zip,.db,.mv.dbor.xlsx. A spreadsheet of keys and emails is fine. - Don't send passwords or API keys for your old system. If we need access to something, we ask.
We import your products, customers and licenses, keeping your license keys where we can, and email you what came over. An import counts toward your plan's tasks at a time while it's open (Free 1, Lite 2, Standard 5; see Plans).
Moving from SunLicense V1
Tasks → Start a task → Import from SunLicense V1 (open it).
- Self-hosted: add V1's
data/sunlicense.mv.db(stop V1 for a moment while you copy it) or a backup.zipfrom V1's Backups page, up to 200 MB. - Managed Hosting: no file needed, we already have your database.
- Your V1 address (the one your plugins call) lets us keep shipped plugins working; your V1 server's time zone lets us read V1's dates correctly.
It's on every plan and doesn't count toward your tasks at a time. What moves and how your plugins keep working is on the SunLicense V1 page.
Closing your organization
The Owner closes the organization from Settings → Danger zone → Close the organization, typing its name to confirm. Nothing changes straight away: everything keeps working until we delete the organization, within 30 days, and you can cancel the request from the same place until then. We email you when it's done. From then on its license keys no longer validate, so move your customers first if they need to keep working.
If you pay for a plan, cancel it under Billing as well: we delete an organization only once it's no longer billed. What we keep afterwards (billing records, as the law requires) is in the Data retention policy.
Your files
- Files you upload and files we send back are stored in Cloudflare R2, in a storage bucket only for tasks, and downloaded through links that work for a few minutes.
- They're deleted 30 days after the task finishes; files of a task that was never submitted, after 24 hours.
- Our staff open your files only to carry out the task you started, and every download by our staff is recorded.
- The task itself (its form, steps and messages) is kept while your organization exists.
See the Privacy policy and the Data retention policy.
